UNIVERSITY COUNSELING
Our university counselors are enthusiastic about supporting and encouraging our students as they plan for their futures.
The university counseling journey begins in junior year and offers students a chance to discover more about themselves as learners, community members, and emerging adults. Students take responsibility for meeting deadlines, researching universities, registering for tests, and completing applications. We actively assist students and families as they explore and navigate their university options.
While our main focus is on the student, it's important for everyone—students, parents, and counselors—to collaborate throughout the process. Honest communication, an open attitude, patience, and positivity are key to ensuring a smooth and positive experience.
In addition to counseling, we also provide tutoring for freshman-level university courses to help students succeed academically.
Our aim is to ensure that students carry their passion for learning, community involvement, and life skills with them as they embark on their next chapter.
LEARNING SUPPORT
Learning Support Services
At LA, we provide a range of support services to help all students succeed academically.
Math and Science Support Specialist:
In addition, our Math and Science Support Specialist oversees the Learning Center. They provide individualized and group support in physics, chemistry, and all levels of math. This ensures that students receive the help they need to excel in these subjects.
Self-Learning Development:
At LOLART, we believe in fostering students' self-awareness of their learning goals, needs, and procedures. Through individual attention and active teacher-student interaction, we ensure timely assessment of students' learning. This approach maximizes students' learning potential.
English as a Second Language (ESL) Learners:
For students learning English as a second language, we offer one-on-one tutoring sessions with qualified tutors. These sessions cover a variety of subjects including Math, Science, English, French, Arts, Social Science & Humanities, Business, Economics, and Computers. Our tutors provide customized lesson plans that are highly effective in improving students' grades and preparing them for college or university.
CONTEST AND STANDARDIZED TEST
At our contest center, we offer a range of services to support students preparing for various exams, including the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC), Advanced Placement (AP) exams, Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT), and more. As a certified test center for Waterloo University and the College Board, we provide comprehensive support for these exams along with other standardized tests.
1. Exam Preparation Classes:
We provide comprehensive exam preparation classes designed to help students excel in their chosen exams. Our experienced instructors cover all exam topics in depth, offering strategies and tips to improve performance.
2. Mock Exams:
To simulate the exam experience, we offer regular mock exams for AMC, AP, SAT, and other standardized tests. These practice exams help students familiarize themselves with the format, timing, and types of questions they'll encounter on test day.
