Course Description

This course emphasizes the consolidation of the literacy, communication, and critical and creative thinking skills necessary for success in academic and daily life. Students will analyse a range of challenging literary texts from various periods, countries, and cultures; interpret and evaluate informational and graphic texts; and create oral, written, and media texts in a variety of forms. An important focus will be on using academic language coherently and confidently, selecting the reading strategies best suited to particular texts and particular purposes for reading, and developing greater control in writing. The course is intended to prepare students for university, college, or the workplace.

Notifications and Marketing Communications: Sending essential service notifications (course schedule changes, school announcements) and marketing information, strictly with user consent.

Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Fulfilling Canadian federal and provincial legal requirements for record keeping and reporting, cooperating with investigations or audits by courts, governments, or regulatory bodies.

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

Educational Partners and Institutions: Necessary student academic data shared with external teachers, educational consultants, accreditation bodies, and partner institutions.

Service Providers and Technical Support Vendors: Sharing essential information with trusted third-party technology companies, payment platforms, and data analytics agencies to facilitate payment transactions, website maintenance, and data analysis.

Legal Obligations and Public Safety: Information disclosure according to court orders, governmental investigations, regulatory requests, or emergencies protecting student or public safety.
