CEMC - GAUSS Contest (Grades 7-8)

About CEMC
To evaluate students' mathematical abilities using objective and fair standards, the University of Waterloo adopted a unified examination approach, giving rise to the Waterloo Math Contest. Due to the University of Waterloo's outstanding reputation and tradition in the field of mathematics, as well as the rigorous and professional assessment criteria of the Euclid Mathematics Contest, the contest results have gained widespread recognition among North American universities and are hailed as the "TOEFL of Mathematics." Among all participants, the top 25% of students receive a Certificate of Distinction. From its inception with only 300 participants annually, the Waterloo Math Contest has now accumulated a total of 210,000 student participants. The Euclid Mathematics Contest results have become an important indicator for admission to various programs in the University of Waterloo's Faculty of Mathematics, as well as the "Software Engineering" program, and a key criterion for students applying for scholarships in the faculty.
